Why is Saturday being counted as a transit day when we turned it off?

We have Second Day orders that are not Prime, and we have Saturday and Sunday off as operational days. There should be two business days between "Ship by" and "Deliver by", not counting Saturday and Sunday. (We also do not automate handling time and such.)

If the "Ship by" date is Friday, the "Deliver by" date should be Tuesday. Likewise, "Ship by" Thursday should have "Deliver by" Monday.

But we are getting numerous orders where "Ship by" is Friday and yet "Deliver by" is Monday, which means Saturday is being counted, and orders where "Ship by" is Thursday and "Deliver by" is Saturday, even though we did not enable Saturday.

Why is this the case?

When you turn off Saturday and Sunday, that effects your handle time not your transit time.

When you ship on Friday, Saturday and Monday are the transit days ( USPS, FedEX and UPS still deliver on Saturdays so it counts ). When you ship on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the transit days (order would be delivered on Saturday). The customer's expected deliver by date for two day transit will follow that schedule for Thursday and Friday ship by dates when it comes to Second Day orders.

@KJ_Amazon ... this should be the team's answer.

we have complained about this many times in the past to no avail. 2 day orders fall under the “premium” shipping rules. We don’t have a problem with Thursday shipments delivering on Saturday, almost all the country gets Saturday delivery.

Our issue is Friday shipments where Saturday is considered a transit day and delivery is required on Monday. Saturday is an operating day for us but that is not really relevant. The problem is that ups and FedEx locally do not nmove Friday shipments until Sunday night so delivery is on Tuesday. It is the same in much of the country.

So for a long time now, on Thursday afternoon before cutoff, we change our 2 day template to “expedited” 1-2 day shipping. Expedited is not under premium shipping rules so Saturday is not counted as a transit day.

Then on Friday afternoon before cutoff cutoff we change the template back to 2 day premium.
