How to send customer thank you emails?
Does anyone know how to thank a customer for a purchase? I often get those when i buy items as a customer. Just think it is a good practice, and can lead to future sales. Is there a way to automatically do that?

That is actually against policy. You should not be contacting buyers after their purchase.

Amazon doesn't want sellers communicating with their customers. It was abused a lot in the past. You can try clicking on the buyer's name in the order and using the "other" option but Amazon is super sensitive to any appearance of asking for positive reviews or any other ToS violations.
Some sellers use inserts to thank customers, but that too has been abused in the past, leading to periodic crackdowns. See https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/6283f003b080fcf126e8517bb0031001

From Help :
Permitted Messages do not include any of the following message types (in many cases we are already emailing customers with this information on your behalf):
Order or shipping confirmations (Refer to the Indirect communication section below)
Messages that say only “Thank you” or that you are here to help if buyers have any problems
That is just an excerpt. There are plenty of other not-allowed rules.

Yes there is BUT @Seller_OvL8C4BJWiuS9, @Seller_LVZcgxAgZ2xBv, and, @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6blhave all given you ideas on what NOT to do.
I went old school and bought two self inking stamps on eBay.
One simply says "Thank You for supporting small business" and the second says "please leave feedback'.
I stamp BOTH at the bottom of the packing slip that I include with every shipment. Then I initial the page by the messages. It might take 30 seconds if I am having a slow, lazy movement day.
I don't say what kind of feedback to leave so there is no violation of policies.
There is no way to prove if it is effective or not but there seems to have been a VERY SMALL increase in the number of buyers responding.

Just write a quick thank you on the back of their packing slip

Nothing personal, I know how you feel. The problem is they are not your customer they are Amazon Customers. something many of us take a few years to understand.
I would go with other sellers recommendations of a personal note on the packing list. Though for us, we don't want to intrude on the customer, therefore we do not do that.

For our FBM, we hand write "Thanks with their name" on the packing slip. Customers seems to appreciate the extra step and mention it on reviews/feedback. Think it helps
