Need to mark product as out of stock

We are getting orders for a product that will be out of stock for a few weeks. This is a new situation for us.

Should we just cancel the existing orders? Cancel and send an explanatory note to the customer?

How do we take the ad down or indicate the product is out of stock? Thanks for any help.

Why are you selling items that are out of stock? Are you drop shipping and your source is out of stock?

If you cancel orders, then your pre-fulfillment cancellation rate will take a hit.

Do not send buyers any notes as to why you cannot uphold your promise of a product, if you are going to cancel, then just cancel.

I understand you are getting orders for a book that is normally fulfilled by Ingram. You will need to remove the listing from your inventory. If you don't believe you will ever have the book to sell again, then I would delete the listing altogether.

Please be sure to update your inventory so this does not happen to another customer with a different book or product. Below is a link to the relevant help page in Seller Central.
