Can I have a FBM handling time greater than 2 days?
Hi Folks, I have a unique poster that is in the GTIN exemption process and would like to know whether I will be able to list it with a handling time that exceeds 2 days. Since it is not yet approved I can’t access the “Shipping Settings” page on my account. Everything I see appears to say that the default will be two days but that you can set a specific time for the ASIN. I just don’t see anywhere that it definitively says that it can be extended. The reason I’m asking is that I live in a very rural area and only get to town once per week. Thanks.

Yes, you may certainly have a handling time greater than two days. (Not sure what the upper limit is – but it is high).
And yes, you may set different handling times for different SKUs. It is done on the Offer tab.
When you leave the handling time field blank, then your default value is used.

I typically put seven days on the listing itself, depending on what sort of account you have sometimes Amazon likes to override stuff and change it to two days…
I generally ship about every three or four days on all of my platforms, once I have a pile…
Not everybody has a good faithful Postal that will actually pick up , scan their packages in a timely manner. …
Which can be problematic, especially if it has to get an originating scan at a central sorting facility which might take a couple of days if you live in The Boondocks…
My business orientated post office in West LA or where – I have my PO box get all of my packages out that day , they’re in central sorting by that night, in the middle of the night there on a truck or plane going to their next destination in the postal stream…
Amazon’s all about delighting customers, this could be at your expense if you can’t get packages out - received - before the last designated delivery time…
Then sometimes certain times of the year there may be glitches things may be running slower because of package traffic…
Also postal rates of changed, I think there’s a surcharge more than Maybe 19 or 20 in I don’t remember… posters easily can weigh much less than a pound, packaged well in correct Packaging… in lieu of using triangular tubes, with a priority rate…
Tubes circular can be problematic, maybe not machinable - sm squares or rectangular boxes might be better, if you can get them light enough, think about the boxes blinds come in but shorter or make your own Triangular boxes… cardboard and polycor which is plastic cardboard all have a Groove, where there’s the natural fold…

Welcome to selling on Amazon. Yes, you can extend your handling time. The hierarchy is default, per SKU, and then by Shipping Template.
You mentioned a very rural area. The mail carrier should still drive by your home every day. So, you can ship everyday. Unless it needs to go UPS/FedEx.
A four day handling time, should mean you ship once a week.
Sorry, but we ship six days a week. So, it was hard to even type that. We only do it for USPS. We could do it with UPS as they still move packages on the weekend.
We compete with other sellers on most items. But if you buyers will wait for delivery, cool.

Yes, that is the situation here. No postal service to the house, P.O. Box in town that we pay for. I sure appreciate the warm welcome and helpful advice from everyone on here. I’m getting a few other newbie questions ready. Yes, packaging is a problem for a 36" X 24" poster since USPS added a $4 surcharge to anything over 22". Funny thing, when you get the posters printed in quantity on an offset press they end up being the cheapest part of the transaction.
