Amazon Review Requests: To Ask or Not to Ask?

Should we use Amazon's Seller Central tool to request customer reviews, or is this against Amazon's policies? Is it okay to ask customers for reviews only once?

The link that appears on the order detail page requests both product review and seller feedback.

That link is the only truly approved way to make those requests.

"Request a Review" on "Order details" page can be used with confidence. However, each order can only be requested once and there are some restrictions, which you can see when you click in.

Requesting a review should be done once after the order has been received if at all.

We would prefer to not request specifically at all. With the understanding that truly bad experiences will get reported and require much more detail so a seller can know what to do. Website is inaccurate or product not as described is totally useless on figuring out what is wrong.

Current response rate is so low as to be unreliable for the most basic analysis.

A compliant system could require an action plan.

We asked our customers in our physical store about usefulness of reviews. In general they do not use them and believe the positive reviews have been bought., along with the experience that their experience does correlate with reviews. Bias and small sample but worth thinking about.

The button only works if it has been between 5 and 30 days from the delivery date. Amazon states they automatically send review requests to buyers on the seller's behalf. However, I have clicked the button after about two weeks and receive a message indicating that a review has already been requested and I cannot request another one. I even went as far as to keep notes of what dates I had manually requested reviews for, so I could be certain I had not accidentally requested reviews for orders more than once. As a buyer, I have never received a review request, so something is not working as intended. Is Amazon throttling sellers who send too many review requests?

Maybe consider doing this with repeat customers as they may be more likely to leave a good review.
