I try to scroll through and help anyone that I can regardless of downvotes or how far I have to scroll. It's unfortunate that people are using it like a popularity contest.

"Down Votes" don't exclude you from getting help. In fact, I'm not really sure what "Down Votes" mean any more. I've seen some pretty good responses get "Down Votes". Nonetheless, I'm here to help if you need help.

Down Votes don't keep people from getting help....I assume you mean that a poster may see a good reply that someone down voted and they will think it's a bad reply, but from what I have seen, if the reply is correct, there are more up votes then down votes and the poster will need to use their common sense to see if the answer makes sense or not..

Rampant downvoting discourages people from giving help. I've seen discussions where every comment has a down vote, like someone went down the line downvoting.
The mods promised downvoting would be monitored to stop people from abusing it. Where is the Downvote bot? :D

Yes yes, that and many other things :-) But really...I think the attention to down votes is highly overrated. I just smile when I see them and feel a little sorry for the person on the other side....

I do not see where we honest sellers should help those who deliberately cheat on AMAZON policies by abusive dropshipping too lazy to follow the narrow but explicitly laid out path to do so within AMAZON policies. I see that AMAZON has been actively shutting down these dropshippers and not reinstating them.
Frankly the only reason to pursue a legit dropshipping relationship with your supplier is for large hard and relatively expensive to ship items that do not sell often enough for you to qualify for better shipping costs than your supplier so instead you save the shipping to yourself charges and the differential in outbound shipping.

We would agree with @Seller_nosqrQael0srK that some threads seem to get an instant down vote on every post no matter the content.
We don't think the down votes have curtailed those types of comments. It is more like some of those who did it regularly have not migrated to NSFE because of the business name being linked to the seller forum name.
Generally, we agree with @Seller_4zBzdtgCyS9EI but there are times when the down votes can take over. Sometimes it appears the down votes are against the Amazon policy more than against the information itself.
Example ... we can provide the seller help page for policy on a detail page and quote the section on not being able to change a generic brand name to a newly registered brand name which means a new listing would have to be created. Many would disagree with this policy and down vote the answer ... not as the wrong answer but as a protest against the policy.
The up vote / down vote thing only leads us to want to have accountability with the up or down vote. This accountability can only be done by allowing us to see who is giving the up vote / down vote like we use to have in the old forum. We get notified of up votes but down votes only get an increase in number on your stats page ... and it is go fish if you want to see what you posted is getting down voted.
And in some respects, this does seen to be the case.

My question here is, why do we care what gets a downvote? It doesn't keep anyone from getting help and aside from hurt feelings, I don't get why anyone would pay it any mind,
