Thinking about selling to Amazon Retail? Beware. They will hijack your listings and block you from making changes to your own listings. Forever.
We have been doing FBA since 2008. Amazon Retail pitched us to sell our products to them. In 2017 we agreed to give it a try. We quickly found out that Amazon Retail benefitted them, but offered us nothing in return. Actually, it was a net negative, but that's not my point here.
We sold to Amazon Retail for less than a year and they took control of our listings. It's seven years later and I still have seller support telling me they can't change an erroneous variation because it is "owned by Amazon Retail" Our listing, our brand registered product.
If you're thinking about selling to retail, be aware. They will hijack your listings. Forever.

Hi there @Seller_Nd9XJTceHpNg8,
Thank you for your time. So the issue here is that Amazon hasn't taken over your listings, but that there are historical contributions via your Vendor Account which are taking priority. The "Retail Contributions" are your own content that you submitted via your Vendor Account (which I suspect is also tied to your Brand Registry). Rather than trying to make the changes via your Seller Account you should log into your Vendor Account and remove the listings from the Account with Vendor Support. Once your Vendor Account is no longer making contributions the Retail Contributions should lift after you attempt to update the listings via an upload via your Seller Account.
The Vendor Support team will only be able to assist if you contact via your Vendor Account. Thank you for your understanding.

100% true! Once retail has a hold of the listing you are locked out.

Have you spoken directly to the catalog department? If you're just speaking to general Amazon CS and not catalog, that's probably why you aren't getting anywhere...
When you submit a ticket for a customer service callback, specifically state in your ticket that you need to speak with someone in the catalog department.
The catalog dept can see every single edit that's been made to the listing, who originated the listing and more. Since you created the original listing, you should make more headway with your request for them to make any changes while you are right there on the line with them.

I have a personal saying for Amazon Vendor Central.
"Amazon Vendor Central is where brands go to die".

This is amazon being your partner, NOT.

Hi @Seller_Nd9XJTceHpNg8,
Did you have Vendor Account? If you have a Vendor Account making Submissions, those submissions will override your contributions from your Seller Account. If you reach out to Vendor Support and request that your listings being offered on your vendor account are removed you should be able to make changes again and remove the Vendor Contribution. Feel free to provide your Vendor Support Case ID and I can see what I can to to assist if you have any trouble. Thank you for your understanding.

FYI,
When Vendor Central is giving you purchase orders, you cannot simply decline them. You must label them "Obsolete". This will prevent Vendor Central from giving you another order ever again.
This will, also, help with your retail contribution problem.
