Asking for invoices for an 84-year-old book?
Tried to add my copy of a book to the already-existing Amazon listing (B000M3GCDY) and am being asked stop apply to sell with an "invoice for at least 10 units" dated within the past 6 months. Really? How does one produce an invoice for at least 10 units of a book published in 1940 and now rather hard to find? There are other sellers on the listing, so they must have managed it somehow.
I've opened a case, but am certain to get boilerplate. Any ideas?

Hello @Seller_YBfUTeoG971hG,
Michelle at Amazon here. I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with listing your book. Can you please provide me with the case ID so I can take a look?
Looking forward to hearing back from you!
Regards,
Michelle

Odds are that those listings were already in place/established (and odds are that any of those who listed can no longer access their listings). I just went through this on about 400 (20 to 40 year old) titles. I had actually listed many of these titles in late 2023 but I was unable to *edit* those titles one month later (Jan 2024).
I did get Seller Support to say that if I would pull together all of the info .. I could then work with a tech to get those titles' listed (and supposedly be able to edit them). I thought about that for about 5 minutes .. and made the decision to (slowly) port those titles elsewhere. There is zero guarantee that that effort on my part here (and time involved) would actually result in "change".
In my case a "brand registered company" (which has nothing to do with books) has Amazon "gating" these books due to ONE WORD being shared between said brand and a totally unrelated (book) company that was bought out in the 1980s. The lack of logic in play regarding your situation and what was requested of me (and probably many other book sellers) .. is literally beyond stupid.
Several years ago I might have taken the time and made the effort .. but at this point .. I can't be bothered. It seems to me that every time one aspect gets addressed here, another time consuming problem comes into play. I just got a survey from another site that I just started selling on at the end of 2023 .. and it wasn't generic .. it was specific to my listings .. and what I could honestly state was that it was far easier to list there (takes me about 10 minutes with detailed pictures/description/pricing).
I have read 100s of posts in this forum indicating that this site wants 3rd Party media/book sellers' gone .. I can't address that .. but I can note that any site that would gate totally unrelated products .. or ask for an invoice on an 80 year old title . has some issues that clearly need to be addressed not ignored.
Regardless .. best of luck .. KJ @ BookshopByTheFalls

Why in the world would you sell an 84 year old book on Amazon? Sell it on eBay, Biblio, etc - anywhere but Amazon.

On that note, we need more than upvotes and downvotes. We need "angry" faces and "laughing" reactions, too.

I kept running into this issue too. I've given up on using Amazon as my main selling venue. I no longer bother using ASINs for product information when listing on other sites. Too many suppressed ASINs and too many with incorrect information. I list through ArtOfBooks and if it goes up on Amazon, great, if it doesn't, at least it goes up on my other venues.

It's the Disney name which is what the invoices would be looking for. If you could provide invoices of Disney products from authorized distributor, you would be ungated. No different than selling a 50-year old Sony movie. Sony is gated, so anything owned by them would require invoices of Sony products.
