HEY AMAZON QUIT CHANGING MY HANDLING TIME

My normal processing time is 1-2 days handling before shipment. I have in the past had Amazon change my setting without my permission to 1 day and once again they changed it again without my permission. HEY AMAZON FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME QUIT CHANGING MY HANDLING TIME.

If any other seller experiences this you have to go into Settings>Shipping Settings under the tab General Shipping Settings then the category Handling Time and click to Edit.

No - If YOU were up to date, you would have read plenty in the forums about how the new handling time gets changed constantly by Amazon despite policies and settings and sellers keep having to change it back. I've seen ours get randomly changed by Amazon multiple times over the last year despite settings. What a weird thing for you to choose to argue about.

BTW - that is not how you handle it if you have a large catalog. You download the pricing update spreadsheet and add latency there. It literally should have taken 3 minutes.

Also, as per Amazon policy, if you manually change latency on a SKU level, as long as your handling time gap is not 2.0+ they are supposed to leave you alone. Of course Amazon even screws that up, too, because even though we always ship the day the shipment is due to be shipped or possibly 1 day before, our gap has grown to 1.8 days.

Seller_R2dP7Hunjcdj0

Realize that even IF you make these changes, IF you continue to ship a particular ASIN early on a regular basis

Ver post
user profile
Seller_R2dP7Hunjcdj0

Finally, for all of those that are wondering HOW to "Fix" this problem, here is what you have to do:

1) Go to your Inventory Page

2) Click EDIT LISTING (right side) for the first Active listing you are displaying

3) Edit the "HANDLING TIME" for that ASIN to the number "2", which will restore the Handling time for that ASIN to 2 days.

3b) This is also a great time to edit your MAX ORDER quantity to reflect your desired amount, lest someone try to freeze your entire inventory by ordering ALL of that ASIN.

4) Click "SAVE CHANGES" to save.

5) Repeat procedure for ALL Active ASINs in your inventory.

I know, it seems crazy. I had to edit almost 4,000 listings and it took days, but once Done it is Done!

Thank you for this valuable information, even if it arrived too late for me.

It is unfortunate that Amazon did not offer this solution, as well as directions on how to complete the task.

I did the only thing that Amazon suggested to change the situation. Perhaps Amazon did not share your solution because they do not want 3rd Party Sellers to be able to control their own Handling Time. Who knows?

Ver post

You might want to fact-check that, as I am certain that the NEW Policy clearly states that Amazon reserves the right to alter your handling time on a per-ASIN basis based on your own history of handling time for that ASIN.

In other words, IF you ship Same Day or Next Day consistently with any particular ASIN, Amazon can override your Handling time and impose a NEW one based on your history. And THIS time you will NOT be able to edit it back to 2 days.

Unfortunately, IF you wait to ship on the second day you MAY find that your shipping options are more limited AND more expensive.

It is a Catch-22 that has yet be be fully address here.

What you stated is EXACTLY what happened! I can't change mine because I have always shipped day of or next day.
Ver post

I am very sorry to hear that the way you have confirmed my info is that YOU have been victimized by this very system.

All Sellers out there, take Heed: Consistently shipping a particular ASIN Next-Day or Same-Day WILL eventually result in Amazon permanently altering the Handling Time to reflect the "Regular" time taken to ship.

What has YET to be addressed by Amazon is this : IF you wait to ship until Day 2 of the shipping window, and purchase postage using Amazon Buy Shipping, at least SOME of your orders that WOULD have qualified for USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE on day 1 will display as "Possible Late Delivery" for the same method on Day 2, which means the package is NOT protected by the Amaozn Policy. This results in having to use a different method, or sometimes even a different Carrier, and is ALWAYS more expensive!

So, IF I ship Next-Day Amazon COULD punish me by forcing me to ALWAYS ship Next-Day.

But if I wait until Day 2 to ship, my shipping options are more limited, and ALWAYS MORE EXPENSIVE.

This is a Catch-22 created by Amazon. I don't believe this was intentional, but the Damage it does is REAL.

My worst-case scenario was a few weeks back when I shipped on Day 2 (as allowed by Amazon) and discovered that the package not only did NOT display USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE as the ASIN always requires, but Amazon did not offer ANY USPS options AT ALL, ONLY UPS options, EVEN THOUGH the Delivery Address was A PO BOX!

I did the ONLY thing offered and purchased Postage using Amazon Buy Shipping and chose UPS GROUND (at a 50% higher cost than what USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE would have been).

At the time I was confused that Amazon would even offer UPS as an option at all, let alone the ONLY option, for a Delivery to a PO Box. But I trusted in Amazon.

BIG MISTAKE!

It turns out that UPS does NOT Deliver to USPS PO Boxes at all. The Buyer had to jump through multiple hoops just to get their package Delivered. They were SO upset they left us Negative Feedback, even though we had done everything correctly as per Amazon.

Luckily the Buyer 1) Reads their Amazon messaged, and 2) Was a reasonable person.

After explaining what had occurred, the Buyer Removed the Feedback. Whew!

BUT...

It COULD have gone much differently. I just happened to have a Reasonable Buyer.

Amazon REALLY needs to abandon this new Policy concerning Handling Time. It comes with MANY unintended negative consequences!

At this point an Amazon Mod could chime-in, if only to say that they have now been made aware of this problem, if not to address and resolve it.

First It All Nuts and now me. Here's hoping that your roving Seller criticism on the Forum moves-on to the next victim.

Unless you have something positive to bring to the discussion.

Oh, and one more thing:

How are you and Nuts STILL not getting that everyone HAS kept up with the changes but Amazon is not following their own policies and keeps changing the settings?

Even ours has been changed multiple times, despite metrics.

Lets try using some logic and reason instead of raw emotion. To get so angry and rude about a simple post from another seller wanting Amazon to stop maliciously/negligently damaging their account settings is lunacy.

Hmmm. You never did accept that your original post was wrong, Amazon DID inform Sellers before the event, and it WAS a topic of multiple forum posts at the time.

Part of being a Seller here is being responsible for keeping up with the changes.

Realize that even IF you make these changes, IF you continue to ship a particular ASIN early on a regular basis

Who knows?

This statement is true and unfortunately Amazon just over-rides whatever we put into the Edited Handling Time box
Ver post

Thank you for adding the weight of your agreement to help validate the info I provided.

I am VERY sorry that Amazon is proving the veracity by forcing you to comply to their override.

I live in hope that this will be rolled-back as more and more Sellers voice their discontent.

It is not much, but what more can we do except to leave for greener pastures.

Good Luck to us ALL.

I did notice that with AHT enabled, Amazon was ignoring our business hours and ASIN-level handling times. This was resolved when I disabled AHT again.

You can say that again! I'm in the same boat! I tried changing it last night and was unsuccessful. Got an order at 11:58 last night and I see it is due to be shipped in the next 6 hours. Equipment is disassembled for cleaning. What a NIGHTMARE!
