How To Create 2nd Amazon Seller Account Successfully

Hello,

I own an amazon seller account currently that sells textbooks.

I am now starting a brand that will be selling Shampoo and Conditioners. I will be getting the brand registered on Amazn Brand Registry too.

1. I want to create a separate account for this - is that OK?

2. How do I create a second account correctly inorder to not have any issues with Amazon Seller policy?

Hi @Seller_vt8s4zK7OvRrs,

According to the Seller Code of Conduct here, you can have a second account if you have a legitimate business need. Good news - having "multiple brands and maintain[ing] separate businesses for each" is specifically listed as a valid reason under the "Multiple selling accounts on Amazon" section.

Before creating your new account for the shampoo/conditioner brand, you'll need to get approval first. The help page here explains that you need to "apply for an exception to this policy" - you can find the specific steps in the "Operating multiple seller accounts" section of the Prohibited Seller Activities article (there's a link to it on that help page).

Just keep in mind that both your textbook account and the new brand account will need to stay in good standing. The policy mentions that if one account has issues, Amazon may temporarily deactivate both until everything's sorted out.

Hope this helps explain the process!

As mentioned by @Seller_i6S8knzW6zU6Z, having multiple accounts on the platform is not prohibited as long as the second account serves a legitimate business purpose. If you were to see one of the accounts disrupted, it would cause any other account you are involved in the operations for to be impacted as well. You would then need to take action to resolve the issue on the original account to resolve the impact to all the other accounts you may have.

To be sure you are following policy, I would advise on opening a case with your intention for a second account to get specific guidance for your situation. Once you have the case ID, feel free to refer back to this thread with the details so I may further review and provide support as needed.

Best,

Atlas

Yea you can do it. We have several. However, we use a centralized main account and when you login, you choose the store/Brand you want then the country etc. However, I am not sure about financials since ours are all linked to the same bank despite being different companies they are all under an umbrella. I do know that you aren't supposed to sell the same items under different stores/subsidiaries/accounts. I am unsure why but we found this out the hard way since a few of our SKU's could be sold as both Residential and Industrial. Just read the rules and beware of that as it will impact the account health of the new company, other company and main company. Though it wasn't horrible we just removed the listings from the new company and it was fine after 90 days it went away.
