State Tax Settings Question
Hello,
I just upgraded to the Pro Plan. I also sold a book to a buyer in NY a few days ago. I noticed today when I logged into my Tax Settings in my amazon seller account it is asking me to add "settings for services" for New York and add "settings for rental sales" for Alabama. It is asking me for a State Registration Number for both of them as well. Can someone please explain what I need to do here? Thank you

I don't thing you have to do anything in this section unless you live in one of those states or are selling certain products to that state that require special taxes to be applied.
Just to be safe, I would check with your tax advisor, but overall Amazon is the facilitator of record for all taxable sales (meaning that Amazon charges, holds and pays all applicable sales taxes for sales on the site.
It makes sense that they do that, imagine if a a bunch of sellers did not pay taxes on their sales. It could shut the whole site down while audits were being done.
