I only want to sell as an Individual, not a professional

Hello Forum Members,

I wanted to try selling on Amazon as an experiment to see if it would be profitable. I tried to create an individual selling account. Amazon forced me to create a professional account with access to Canada, the United States, and Mexico markets. I tried to downgrade my account to an individual, but the Mexico market could not be downgraded. Then I was charged $39.99 even though I downgraded what I could. I requested to have that fee refunded, and that should happen in a few days.

Now I'm still not sure if I am really an individual account or still a professional account. I only want to sell in the Canada and US markets and not be charged a professional subscription fee. How can I ensure that I am truly an individual seller for Canada and the US?

May name is CR and wanted to hop in here to see if I can provide you some information here. It sounds like you have already taken the steps provided here to downgrade to and Individual plan. If you did so, Mexico will still always show as "professional", but rest assured you will no longer be charged the $39.99/month fee if you did successfully downgrade.

I am going to take a quick peek on my end into your account and will report back here shortly.

CR back here again. I can confirm that you have successfully downgraded your account from Professional to Individual and you should be all set here now.

This page has a lot of great resources including FAQ's on the account. Two of which are the below:

What if I don't want to sell on more than one store?

If you have been upgraded to a Unified Account and do not want to sell on another store, keep the store switcher on the country on which you originally registered. Your products will only list on that store.

It sounds like from the above that you have no items there, so you should be all set. However, I'd still recommend setting those locations you don't want to sell in on 'vacation mode' as well.
