Brand registry!

I have a question about brand registry that I've seen mixed answers on. If you've already applied for brand registry and have ASINs listed under a general brand, can you edit those listings to link them to your brand registry? Would this involve changing the general brand to your registered brand name for the existing product listing, or do you need to create entirely new product listings?

If I'm planning to launch a new product, should I apply for brand registry first and then create the product listing? Getting approval for brand registry seems to take 2 weeks and just wanted to see what's the most efficient way to plan for the launch. Thanks in advance!

Hello @Seller_hTmynLoHhaEXe,

My name is Dougal from the Community Manger Team and I can address your question while providing the policies for reference.

The quick answer is NO, you cannot change the brand name of an ASIN from generic to a different brand name. Re-branding is addressed in the Product detail page rules, the last bullet of the last section "Policies for editing detail pages," on the help page.

You can also refer to the Amazon Brand Name Policy for more on brand names and the brand attribute of an ASIN.

It will not matter if you enroll first or not for the ASIN ***IF*** the brand name you fill out in that attribute field is EXACTLY the same as the TM that is registered/pending with the TM office. For more insight on the specific requirements of for Brand Registry enrollment, please review the Enrollment guidelines for accepted trademark offices help page and select the TM office you have registered with.

Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Best, Dougal
