When and how will the Placement Fees charged?

I am new to amazon seller and I was filing my first shipment to amazon fab and, of course I saw the placement fee for my products. But I wanted to know how and when will amazon charge this placement fee. Will they charge it every time I sell an item? Will they charge it in full once I confirm the inbound shipment? Will they subtract it from my amazon seller revenues or from the credit card linked to my account?

Hi @Seller_8bBzHWPQXXpSw,

Welcome to the Seller Forums, thank you for reaching out with this question!

When you create a shipping plan, you can select one of the following inventory inbound placement options:

  • Minimal shipment splits: You can send your inventory to the minimal number of inbound locations, generally to a single location, for a fee, and we will decide on your behalf how to place the inventory across our network. The fee may vary by inbound location—for example, there may be higher fees for shipments sent to locations in the West versus other parts of the country.
  • Partial or Amazon-optimized shipment splits: Send your inventory to multiple inbound locations yourself for a reduced or no fee. The reduced fees will depend on the number of shipments and inbound locations that you send your inventory to. To qualify for the Amazon-optimized inbound option with no inbound fee, your shipments must include at least five identical cartons or pallets per item. Each carton or pallet must contain the same quantity per item and the same item mix. If you select the placement option in which you send your inventory to a partial number of inbound locations, generally two or three, you will pay a reduced fee.

When you create a shipping plan, you’ll see a fee estimate for each available inbound placement option. You’ll be charged the FBA inbound placement service fee 45 days after your shipment is received, based on the inbound location and the quantities received.

To track your charges, please follow the below steps:

  • Go to Payments dashboard.
  • Click the Transaction view tab, then select Service fees in the Transaction type drop-down menu.
  • Click Update to view your FBA inbound placement service fee per shipment.
  • Locate your shipment ID under the Order ID field in the transaction view. You will be able to view the total fee charges on a shipment level.
  • You can also use the FBA inbound placement service fee downloadable report. This report will show the inbound placement service fee charges on shipping plan, shipment, and SKU levels, and will help you identify if your shipping plan was compliant.

To navigate to your report, follow these steps:

  • From the Reports drop-down menu, select Fulfillment.
  • Under Payments to the left of the page, click FBA inbound placement service fees.

For more information, best practices, and some FAQs, please check out the 2024 FBA inbound placement service fee help page.

I hope this helps clarify! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

All the best,

Jameson
