Amazon is already asking the buyers for feedback after each purchase. And 90% of buyers have opted out of receiving harassing and begging for reviews emails from sellers.

But in fact you are right - I don't have an answer to your question because I don't need it and find it in contrary counterproductive. I would never give a rating to someone asking me for.

Speaking as a buyer: I want ONE interaction. I want to buy the product, receive it, and be done with it. I am not looking for an ongoing relationship. If you pester me for feedback or reviews, I am likely to leave a negative.

Speaking as a fellow seller: if you want good feedback, you have to EARN it. You have to be better than the average seller around here. ( And that is not a very high bar nowadays )

I get my feedback primarily by using superior packaging. Again, it is not a particularly high bar: half of the books that I order from Amazon or 3P sellers arrive damaged because of substandard packaging. It is easy to do better than this. Simply using a box instead of a bag, and adding some bubble wrap or styrofoam puts you in the top 10 percent of sellers.

That will almost certainly lead to suspension. At least it has for others who do that.

In spite of the fact that it is allowed, Amazon does not want you sending a message for every order and it will probably end badly.

If you want to request feedback / review, use the link supplied by Amazon on the order detail page.

While it is (in theory) allowed to send a message requesting feedback, it is not allowed just to send a message about the order (thank you / let me know if there are problems, etc)

Amazon wants that buyer-seller messaging system used only when there are problems. Not as a part of routine.

I think people have mixed feelings on this, but the overwhelming majority seems to not want more than 1 message.

Personally, I think it's ok to send an email a couple days after delivery to say thank you and see if it met expectations. As long as you aren't mentioning anything about not leaving a negative review, this SEEMS to be in line with Amazon TOS.

Regarding Request a Review emails, this needs to be completely separate and not mention anything about leaving only positive reviews. Use the Amazon template for this. But in the end, Amazon already sends this to the customer so it seems like a waste.

Something else to consider is an email when customers request a refund. This way you can also get a bit more details on what was wrong.

But again, 1 email seems to be the maximum customers want.
