Pesticides are chemical substances used to kill harmful insects, small animals, wild plants
and other unwanted organisms. Pesticides can be either an agrochemical or a sanitizer. MAPA
(Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply), Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency)
and Ibama (Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) regulate
agrochemicals. While ANVISA regulates sanitizers, which must be notified to or registered with
Anvisa, depending on the risk classification. Those pesticides considered sanitizers are
either (i) an over-the-counter product for amateur use or (ii) a product for professional use
